K9 Officer M.E. Moates
1985 trained German Shepherds under Dick Lovelady, renowned Military and Movie K9 handler/trainer
1991 studied under Pete Onni, of the Netherlands (currently chief of South African Police K9 units) in training/handling patrol and detector dogs.
1991 in patrol dog class with Robbie Bishop regarding drug interdiction and hidden compartments
1992 trained with Gwinnett County Sheriff¹s Dept, Lilburn PD and Walton County in GA in NAPWDA and USPCA. I was not impressed with either of these training methods so I studied KNPV, PSA, French Ring, IPO and DPO
1994 discovered Cam Guy and PSP. (Polizeispuerhund Pruefung) Cam trained under Ted Sexton and Wendell Knope, the first Americans to ever attend the PSP School, Landespolizeischule fer Dientshundfurher, in Stukenbrock Germany where they studied the strict requirements of PSP under Colonel Maciejeski of the German Federal Police. I have been training with Cam Guy ever since and have found my calling in this style of K9 training!
1999 went to Germany to the Landespolizeischule where I studied the GSG-9 and their K9's (same as our SWAT Units in the USA) I have trained several hundred K9's over the years and have assisted Police Departments from all over Alabama to Las Vegas, Alaska, Canada and North Carolina to name a few. I am the first officer in North America to train and certify 2 European bred Dobermans in PSP (patrol and narcotics)
I am now training the first Beauceron, EVER, in North America or Germany in PSP patrol.
Amigo "Ivan" des Fugues de Saint-Alban will certify in February of 2007. I am fully qualified to train, instruct, and certify PSP K9's in the following: Patrol, Detector, Cadaver, Tracking, Explosives, and SAR
If anyone has any questions of my credentials or references please direct them to me at PSPBeauce@aol.com
